Announcement: System Scheduler updated to version 3.47

Post by support »

We're pleased to announce the release of System Scheduler version 3.47.

Please note, most of the changes are in the Professional version of System Scheduler though the free version also includes minor enhancements and bug fixes.

This update includes mostly 'under the bonnet' changes and improvements as detailed below. Most of the bug fixes relate to running System Scheduler in Terminal Services/Remote Desktop sessions.

If you run Terminal Services/Remote Desktop we recommend you update to this latest version. If you don't run TS and have not encountered any of the issues below, you may want to wait for the next update of SS that will contain several new features.

*Fix: When running TS, 'Enable Privilege' jobs appeared if system scheduler Service is not running. Fixed.
*Fix: When running TS, only the 'owner' of the job can run it if the service is not running. Fixed, now any logged in user can run the job.
*Fix: When running TS, with multiple users logged in it was possible for jobs intermittently be exectued more than once, this is fixed.
*Fix: Version 3.41 introduced default 'hotkeys' to open System Scheduler, these conflicted with other applications that wanted to use the same keys. The default 'hotkeys' have been removed in this update but can be optionally enabled and modified in Preferences.
*Impr: General GUI improvements to improve clarity and ease of use, including selecting multiple events and clearer scheduling options.
*Impr: When using 'Run Now' the 'Last Run Time' is now updated, previously it was only updated when a 'scheduled' job was run.
*Impr: The 'Run As...' credentials is shaded out when it can not be used, to avoid confusion.
*Impr: The 'Shutdown.exe' program that ships with System Scheduler has been renamed to 'ShutdownGUI.exe' as the similar name to the Windows shutdown command caused confusion as to its purpose.
*Compatibility: When forcing a manual update to system scheduler by creating .flg files, two files were required 'WSUpdate.flg' and 'Update.flg'. From this version only one file is required 'Update.flg'.
