Bug...
Yes, nice job, the “topic” entry is perfect and IDD is simply fantastic.
I found a bug on the new version:
If you add an icon on a tab, the tab will automatically copy
... can you change this problem…
Moreover, if you address this problem, in the pop-up "rename a tab, can you introduce the choice of icons too? It saves time. Why have you two different menus: one for rename a tab and another to select the icon, can you put them together in the same popup?
Thank you and congratulations for your work

Thanks for the positive feedback.
Ben, can you provide step-by-step how to reproduce the bug when adding and icon to a tab ? We can't seem to reproduce it here so you're probably doing something different to us.
Like your suggestion about putting the rename and icons together... will see what we can do.

Great.support wrote:Ben - thanks, got it. Bug confirmed and will be fixed for final release.
a beta version serves to highlight this type of problem ...
Another small improvement in the software that is lacking in the same field : able to double click on the title of the page tab to rename it directly
why not in the final version?
Help Files
Don't forget to keep the help files updated! For example, a search on "lock" (as in database record locking) brings up nothing about the database record locking choices in Preferences.
Being a programmer, I know what a thankless job it is to keep help files and documentation up-to-date, but the help files, especially, are critical to the use of the program.
By the way, I assume that "always lock the record" means lock the record during editing AND viewing?

Ben, will see what we can do...
Shadeclan, yes the help files will be updated before the final release.
'Always lock the record', is almost as you described:
If you are viewing records, maybe browsing the diary, the records you are looking through wont lock at that point. However, as soon as you begin to edit a record it will lock, and it will stay locked until you move away from that entry even if the record is saved and returns to viewing mode. This means that iDD's autosave policy wont cause your entry to suddenly become unlocked while you still have it open.

Great work indeed.
And I must highly commend the diary as a whole. Ever since I happened on it 2 years ago I've just grown to love and appreciate it more and more.
One issue though! Sometimes, after inserting a file, you return later to find the link is no longer working and the file therefore inaccessible. If you don't have a duplicate copy of the file outside the diary, the file is lost for ever. Sad to say I have lost a couple of files this way in the past.
My assumption is that the file is still in the database but has somehow become orphaned.
Now that the contents of the database can be viewed, one is now able to confirm that such a file is still there or not. But the only option available is the Delete. It would be great if it can be made possible to re-insert a file straight from the database into a chosen page of the diary so that a functional link to the file is re-created.
This way anything inserted into the diary can never be lost.
Kindly look into the possibility of including this feature in this new version.
Many thanks.

Commodore,
Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks for the feedback.
This particular bug is fixed in this latest update. We discovered that if a file is held open in another application at the time you inserted into iDailyDiary, sometimes the file would not be copied into the iDD database, but no error would occur. This is now sorted. One issue though! Sometimes, after inserting a file, you return later to find the link is no longer working and the file therefore inaccessible. In the database structure, if you see a filename with a size of zero (0) against it - that will be an example of the previous bug. Simply delete that entry. However, an orphaned file will say - Orphan against it. In the final release we will include a right-click Export File option to recover the orphaned file from the database and re-inserted if required (and the original orhpaned record deleted). Now that the contents of the database can be viewed, one is now able to confirm that such a file is still there or not.
